Hot Yoga

Hot Yoga has become “a thing” and rightfully so. Not only is it very popular but it is a style of yoga that appeals to many people that want something a bit more physically intense than traditional yoga practices.

Hot yoga started under Bikram Choudry in the 1970’s when he started using heaters to create 40 degree heat and 40% humidity during his yoga classes which became hugely popular in Hollywood and now worldwide in what is known as Bikram Yoga.

Today there are many variations of hot yoga but the concept is the same. The heated room and increased humidity makes your body work harder. By sweating more it helps your body detoxify and also help you move better as you feel more supple.

Hot yoga is a much more active form of yoga and by the end of a hot yoga class you will feel like you had a proper workout. This is ideal for anyone who prefers a more traditional “workout” but still want all the benefits of yoga.

The focus of hot yoga classes is more on stimulating cardiovascular movement and strength. Power Yoga is one of the most popular forms of hot yoga which is a Vinyasa style class with influences from Iyengar, Ashtanga, Raja and Bikram yoga styles.
